For those who like to personalize their PC's, this page is for you!
Desktop themes are another great way to enhance your desktop. This page contains exclusive themes made by me with which you can customize your desktop with. Desktop themes normally include wallpapers, icons (My Computer, Network Neighborhood, & recycle bin full and empty), sounds, and cursors. Some also include a screensaver, logo (startup, wait and shutdown) screens, Web Views, and fonts that are star trek related. To use these themes you will neeed Microsoft Windows 95/98 (or better) with Microsoft Plus. Those of you with Windows 95 or 3.1 can still use the sounds and the wallpaper by going to your control panel and making the proper adjustments. The only thing that Windows 95 or 3.1 users can't do is change the icons. I'm sorry about that but there is nothing I can do about it.

How do I install themes?

First of all to install themes, you'll need a desktop theme program such as Microsoft Plus! But there are several other theme alternative programs to Microsoft Plus that work just as well such as Desktop Themes, XTheme Manager or Desktop Architect etc. You will also need a version of WinZip or other alternative zip utility program to extract about 90% of all themes to make use of the desktop themes. Some programs are freeware some are shareware, they all can be found all over the web. Now you are ready to load the Desktop theme you downloaded.

First you will need to open up your zip utility and open the zip file you downloaded.
Look to the right of the files is the path set already? If so, then just extract the files to your C:\ (C:\ being your if your is named differently put in the hard drive name) If not then extract them directly into C:\program files\Plus!\themes\ folder.

Now open up your desktop theme program (if you are using MS Plus! desktop themes, the one that comes with Win98) then you can open it by clicking Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Desktop Themes.

In the Desktop Themes dialog box, click on the title of the new theme you downloaded, and then click OK. **You may need to choose other if you extracted into a separate folder and browse to the .theme file click open and then click OK.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE / HALL OF SHAME!
The Themes are not to be seperated and posted to any sites by themeselves or with out the readme file. They are not to be copied of misused or stolen by other scrupulous persons (Vassilis themes and *Craig Donaldson) who are nothing more than petty theifs that attempt to take credit for someone else's hard work as done on these themes. I've had reports of others doing this, but to date this is the only ones I've seen myself, DS9 Major Kira WarYears 3 Alt, *DS9 Jadzia Dax Final Memory, TNGBorg revise theme and Star Trek First Contact03 theme. By replacing the README files with only their name or changing the icons really doing none of the work themselves and then putting the theme back on the web taking credit for it, this is unaceptable. I would also request in good faith you donot support this persons website or themes. If you do find them in error posted to a third parties site please inform them of this and point them in my direction, I will fill them in completely. Please do not issue their site any awards or honors of any kind and remove all themes you may already have on your site, until the themes in question are removed or proved to be their own creations, all the themes on the site should be suspected. Please remember their names! Next time give credit were credit is due, try contacting the original authors and ask permission to change, update or alter others themes, you might just find them to be acommodating as long as theirs credit for the original in the Readme file! _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Live Long and Prosper...
