X-Mas theme

Install theme

To use this desktop theme you will need a theme program (such as Microsoft Plus!). If you do not have a theme program, you will need to get one first - you can find some links for theme programs on my homepage, or search the net for others.

If you got a theme program, all you have to do is to follow the few steps listed below.

  1. Locate your theme folder (if you use Microsoft Plus! on an English version of Windows the default folder would be C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\).
  2. Activate the .exe file you have downloaded and enter your theme folder (your result from step 1).
  3. Go to your theme folder and into the "X-Mas" directory - then the "Fonts" directory.
  4. Copy all the files.
  5. Go to your font directory (C:\Windows\Fonts\) and insert the files.
  6. Go to the "X-Mas directory" (again) and into the "Logos" directory.
  7. Copy the file "logo.sys" to C:\  - remember to take a backup of your old logo.sys file first if you haven't already got one!
  8. Copy the two other files (logow.sys & logos.sys) to your windows directory - again, remember to take a backup first.
  9. Go to your theme directory (C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\  is default) and activate one of the .theme files that starts with X-Mas. Note: load the file where the last part of the name (e.g. (800x600) ) is equal to your screen resolution.

Un-install theme

When Uninstalling a theme you should normally leave the fonts on your computer. Most fonts are used by other programs too, and to not interfere with these programs it is much easier to just forget about the fonts. A font doesn't take up much space anyway. With that in mind, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Load another theme (or load the Windows default theme - it can be downloaded from my homepage)
  2. Go to your theme directory and delete the "X-Mas" folder.
  3. Also delete all the .theme files that starts with "X-Mas ..." (total 2 files).
  4. Delete the logo files (c:\logo.sys, c:\windows\logow.sys and c:\windows\logos.sys) and replace these with your original logos - those you toke a backup of when installing the X-Mas logos (or before).

Credits

Even though I have made this theme myself, there are some elements (2), that I have got from elsewhere. Here is a list with credits to the author:

The Icons: I haven't made any of the icons myself. I found these on the net, and came to the conclusion, that if I made some myself, they would look much the same. No need to make the same work twice. Sorry, no author go credit from the page I downloaded them from, and no information came with them.

The Start-up Logo: I had made a start-up logo myself, but when I saw Ben Elliss's start-up logo, I decided to use that instead. I did ask him first. He would be happy to receive some feed back. Here is the information he asked me to post on this page:

Name: Ben Elliss
