Animals in "Animated Zoo!" screen saver are animated gifs. So you can add your own characters by choosing your favorite gifs, then putting them into $WorkDir\LAnimals or $WorkDir\RAnimals directory.
TIP: Be careful to choose the right directory. Putting an animal going leftward in $WorkDir\RAnimals directory will cause a bewildering effect.

How to add my own sound effect?
Replace $WorkDir\Sound\monster.wav with your own sound file. But be sure to keep the original file name.
Now go to $WorkDir\LAnimals or $WorkDir\RAnimals directory, files of name that begins with a "snd_" indicates a piece of sound will be played at the presence of those animals.
Add your tree files to $WorkDir\Trees directory. Tree files should be of gif format with transparent color.
TIP: If you would like to see more trees of one kind than others, make more copy of it in the Trees directory.
Add your background files into $WorkDir\Trees directory. Background files can be of most popular graphics file formats. If you have background files of seldom used format and Animated Zoo! does not support it, convert them into a popular format (jpeg recommended).
Afterwards, you can select your favorite background from within the screen saver configuration (i.e., Start/Setting/Control Panel/Display/Screen Saver, choose "Animated Zoo!" and click "Setup" button).
TIP: Choose background picture of proper horizon. Or some animals may stroll ABOVE the horizon. The future version of Animated Zoo! will be more flexible, then you can modify animal positions to fit backgrounds of different horizon positions.
